12 Years of Tech Blogging
Back in March 2009, I started this blog as a hobby then I gradually moved it to showcase my skills, get freelance gigs, maybe write some guidebooks, and never in a million years did I think this would become my long-term, full-time job.
I bugged my younger sister for help, learned HTML & CSS , wrote blog post after blog post, connected with other bloggers, pitched stories to online publications, and figured out SEO and social media.
Today is the anniversary of my first post. However, I’m not someone who cares about anniversaries or birthdays, because I almost find them to be a sad reminder of how fleeting life is (though perhaps that’s also a good reminder). I can’t believe I am still at it twelve years later. What started as a hobby has morphed into a business that includes this blog, a foodblog, programming tutorials, data science how-to guide, tech-talk, community meet-ups and a memoir of my journey to data science. I am really thankful that Allah has given me an amazing platform for me to start a business and share useful knowledge with others.
Well, the time has moved (mostly for good), a decade later I think programming has changed as well, a lot of tools/frameworks are available to make a quick prototype and for writing code. Book reading has decreased, deep thinking process has also reduced substantially (by masses) because of the tendency to find do a search (though sometimes this is useful), folks like to search the web instead of thinking about the problem and making flowcharts with pen and paper.
In the last decade web tools for programming have improved a lot, tools like CodePen, Jupyter notebook are really good. You don’t have to be at the mercy of setting up environment to start coding. You just need a web browser to start with…. which is amazing!
My blogging has also improved, I learn something new everyday. From past few years blogging has given a big impact in my personal growth. Though I don’t follow any pattern in writing mostly try to write about tech, blogging, and Data Science. TECH industry is my passion, and I get up seven days a week excited to write about it. It excites me just as much as it did on day one. This is my corner and I just want to write what comes in my mind without fear of judging, unlike social media platforms.
In the end, I would like to thank you to all of those who have checked in over the years. Hopefully you’ve at least gotten a laugh or some useful information out of the blog at some point over the years. There’s no way I could have ever done this full time without the support of you guys. Thank you, I’m grateful for all of you I’ve had the chance to interact with, whether in person or in the comments section. I’ve learned a lot from all of you.
I hope to continue writing about my learnings in the coming years and quite humbled for guidance & support of my venerable seniors.
Happy Learning and Blogging!
